Race Brief

Start Time

The Mitchell River National Park features everything from open forest, a vast range of flora and fauna, to remote river gorges. Witness jaw dropping river scenery, serene rainforest gullies, rugged landscapes, and some of Victoria’s more unusual vegetation communities in this extraordinary National Park.

Trail runners can expect a challenging mix of terrains as they navigate a combination of both technical and more defined single track trails. Prepare to familiarise yourself with the sounds of nature, at times it will be just you and the trails.

The Course

The 55km Trail Run begins at the Echo Bend Caravan Park and journeys south past the campground. Runners will then make their way through the farm paddocks, onto a wild ridge run that eventually drops them to the Old Weir Site (a race checkpoint). From here, runners will head north, joining the Old Mitchell River Walking Track, and heading via the Bluff Lookout to re-join the marked Mitchell River Walking Track heading north.

Runners are required to take an out and back to Jergeson Point before heading north all the way to Angusvale. Runners will then return back south, again completing the Jergeson out and back, and taking in the National Park highlights including Amphitheatre Escarpment Lookout. The course will conclude with a picturesque finale feature, the Den of Nargun.

The 55km Trail Run is an out and back run, with a loop extension and out and backs at the Old Weir and Jergeson Point. The run will end at the Echo Bend Caravan Park (race HQ).
