The Mitchell River National Park features everything from open forest, a vast range of flora and fauna, to remote river gorges. Witness jaw dropping river scenery, serene rainforest gullies, rugged landscapes, and some of Victoria’s more unusual vegetation communities in this extraordinary National Park.
Trail runners can expect a challenging mix of terrains as they navigate a combination of both technical and more defined single track trails. You can take on our 55km event, or Half Marathon (21.1km) event. For both events, prepare to familiarise yourself with the sounds of nature, at times it will be just you and the trails.
The Half Marathon Trail Run begins in Angusvale and journeys south on the well-defined Mitchell River Walking Track. Runners will take in the National Park highlights, including Amphitheatre Escarpment Lookout and the picturesque inale feature, the Den of Nargun. This is a one-way run, ending at the Echo Bend Caravan Park (race HQ).
Shuttle buses to the northern most point of the course area, Angusvale, from race HQ will be available for all Half Marathon participants.
The following equipment is mandatory for all Half Marathon competitors to carry.
Spot checks of equipment will be carried out on the day.
